White Label Cigars.
A white label cigar is a premium cigar made for someone else's brand — your name on the band, your dress on the box, your exclusivity on the shelf. The Cigar Mule is a white label cigar manufacturer in Estelí, Nicaragua, working with retailers launching their own house cigar and founders launching national lines.
What is a white label cigar?
A white label cigar is a premium cigar manufactured by one company and sold under another company's brand. The Cigar Mule rolls the cigar; you put your name on the band; the cigar lands on your shelf as your house cigar — exclusive to your shop, your customers, or your distribution.
The term comes from older industries (electronics, software, food) where "white label" meant a stock product with your sticker on it. In the cigar industry, the term has come to mean almost any cigar made for a third-party brand, whether the blend is custom or selected from existing recipes. The Cigar Mule does both flavors of white label work — and we'll tell you on the discovery call which one fits your project.
White label vs. private label — the strict distinction.
If we're being precise:
- White label historically means a generic, off-the-shelf product re-branded for a buyer. Same blend everyone else gets, with your name on it. Faster, cheaper, lower risk — and lower differentiation.
- Private label historically means a buyer-specific product. Your blend, your spec, exclusive to you. Slower, more expensive, higher differentiation.
The Cigar Mule does both. Most retailers start with what we'd call "white label" — selecting from twenty perfected house blends and putting their band on a proven recipe. Many graduate to "private label" as the brand grows: a custom blend filed in their name. Either way, the cigar is exclusively yours by virtue of the band, dress, and customer list.
